1 out of 5 stars White Lines   May 22, 2010
Susan Dynarski
Pros: compact, inexpensive, fairly easy to use

Cons: Scan quality is terrible. It worked well for the first batch I scanned, but now the dreaded white lines have appeared and will not go away, no matter how many times I clean and recalibrate this sucker.

2 out of 5 stars Would not buy this scanner   April 24, 2010

I just received the scanner and scanned about 40 pictures. The scanner was easy to use. However, I had the lines in all the pictures and the scanned image was darker than the original. The originals did not have lines before being scanned, after running it through the scanner, I could see light lines on the original. I would not purchase this scanner. I am currently in the process of returning it.

2 out of 5 stars Piece of junk   January 18, 2010

I loved this when I first got it. I love the speed. However, as other reviewers have stated there are frequent white lines. My biggest complaint is I used it heavily the first 2 weeks I got it. Then it sat for several months and when I went to use it it wouldn't even turn on. Since the warranty is only 90 days it's not covered by warranty. Regardless though, when I emailed the manufacture they couldn't even respond to my email. Poor product from a company with even poorer customer service. Save your money and don't buy.

1 out of 5 stars Does a poor job   January 9, 2010

This was a Xmas present, I had wanted a small, simple scanner but one with better resolution than my 600 dpi Lexmark all-in-one X2600 desktop unit. I finally got it out today and have spent a couple of hours playing with it. I cannot recommend this for anyone interested in making scanned images of high quality. The function is very delicate and it is very easy for the auto feed to be disturbed. The image from my scans seemed fuzzy, so I scanned the same images on my Lexmark and that produced a better image! I tried cleaning the Pandigital unit and photos were no better. The literature says images are saved as 'ultra high resolution' 1800 x 1200 jpgs. There are absolutely no settings with the scanner or software to select levels, only as to where photos are sent on your PC. So I guess I was scanning at the highest level, but the photos were fuzzy and when blown up in Photoshop, there were far fewer pixels and detail than from the Lexmark. It's going back in the box and back to the vendor tomorrow if my relative saved her receipt. Otherwise, we are out the $$. I am still looking for a small, portable photo scanner to take around to the relatives to get what I want from their photo albums. Don't waste your money on this little scanner.

1 out of 5 stars Do not buy!!! Piece of junk!   December 25, 2009

This thing is a complete ripoff! The scan quality is extremely poor (think mid-90s technology), even without the frequent white lines that appear on the images. Not only that, but they neglect to inform you that you need to put EVERY picture in a flimsy plastic shield for each scan in order to get "high quality" results - this negates much of the advertised ease of use and speed of being able to feed one picture in after the next. Not only that, you can't scan directly to the computer! You HAVE to use the memory card provided, which is TINY (556mb)! Should you want to scan more than a few pictures you would have to buy a much larger capacity memory card. What a rip off. Don't waste your money on this scam.
